East Ridge of Y Garn

Image
Thanks very much to Ruth and David for a fantastic week on our 5 day advanced scrambling course. We rounded it off today with David leading us up the East Ridge of Y Garn in great style, despite some wet rock to contend with. We’ve had lots of fun, lots of routes and it’s been a total pleasure. Ace!

East Face of Tryfan

We’ve had a change in weather today with temperatures being much more manageable and the wind picking up. We took shelter on the East Face of Tryfan, heading up Nor Nor Buttress, down Bastow Buttress, up Nor Nor Grooves and down the North Ridge. Ace!

Atlantic Ridge and Needle Eye Arete

Image
We’ve had a scorcher today so it felt Alpine as we climbed Atlantic Ridge on Carnedd Y Filiast. After some beautiful sunbathing we skipped down to the foot of Foel Goch and climbed Needle Eye Arete before descending to Ogwen Cottage for much welcomed refreshments πŸ˜€

Skipping along the clouds

Image
It felt like we were skipping along the clouds today as David, Ruth and I enjoyed our second day of scrambling. Cyrn Las Scramble lead us upto the Clogwyn y Person ArΓͺte which we enjoyed in complete solitude as the clouds swirled below us. We then skipped along Crib Y Ddysgl and Crib Goch before descending the North Ridge and temporarily back into the murk. Warm and humid but not as fried as yesterday!

Advanced Scrambling Five Day Course

Image
Ruth, David and I have had a great day of scrambling today. We headed up Idwal Buttress into Idwal Staircase and then up the Cneifion Arete. After lunch we nipped down the False Gribin to allow us to climb Dolmen Ridge and then descend Bristly Ridge for a refreshing paddle in Llyn Bochclwyd. An ace first day of our five day advanced scrambling course. Thanks both πŸ˜€πŸ‘

Is summer starting?

Image
It’s starting to feel like summer! David has been out with the ML Training team around Cnicht. I’ve been flying this morning, playing around with camera setups for my Mountain Days Vlogs. The boys and I managed to sneak in a bit of paddling this afternoon too. I do love the sunshine.

Advanced Scrambling

Image
A damp it not totally wet day yesterday for Sarah and Reza on our Advanced Scrambling Course. Being a first taste of roped scrambling we followed the fine and well trodden itinerary of the first half of Idwal Buttress linked to the upper half of Idwal Staircase before stepping from grade 2 to 3 for a finale on Cneifion Arete. They followed that up today with an ascent of the East Ridge of Y Garn in slightly drier conditions. Thanks very much both for joining us.

Bastow Buttress

I’ve been out with Ian and Duncan again today and I think it’s fair to say that they were keen for something easier than yesterday πŸ˜€ We headed to the East Face of Tryfan and climbed Bastow Buttress before descending the North Ridge. Nice one gents and thanks very much πŸ˜€πŸ‘
