Tryfan in the sunshine

Image
We headed up the Heather Terrace on Tryfan this morning with an open mind on what we fancied scrambling. We plumped for Pinnacle Rib Scramble but having got up the first pitch we changed plans and headed for Bastow Buttress. Another lovely autumn day, it’s proving a drier and more pleasant season than summer so far!

Advanced Scrambling

Image
I’ve been out with Rachel and Kate today on our advanced scrambling course whilst Huw was with Alex and Sophie. It’s been a breezy but sunny autumn day and we’ve had a lovely time padding up Idwal Buttress and the Cneifion Arête. Beautiful.

Carneddau

Claire and I headed to the Northern Carneddau today, escaping the drizzle that had set in the Ogwen Valley when we met this morning. We had a lovely walk with Claire in charge of the navigation for the day. Thanks very much Claire for a  great couple of days.

Mountain Skills

It’s been another beautiful day in the mountains. I’ve been out with Claire today looking at navigation skills as we headed over Y Garn. Stunning.

Bastow Buttress

Another wonderful autumn day with Bob, this time on Tryfan. We climbed Bastow Buttress and onto the North Ridge with more stunning views and weather. What a great three days - thanks Bob!

East Ridge of Y Garn

Image
This is a beautiful time of year. The mountains are changing colour, the light is fantastic, it’s quiet and yet there’s still warmth in the sunshine. Bob and I were glad of that bit of warmth too as the snow showers made for chilly fingers on the East Ridge of Y Garn today. Another lovely day - thanks Bob.

Scrambling with Bob

Image
I’ve been joined for the rest of this week by the legend that is Lord Bob! Today was the least exciting forecast so we eased in by heading up the Gribin Ridge and down Seniors Ridge. It’s always ace to be out scrambling with Bob 😀

ML Assessment

Image
Huw and I have switched places today, I’ve been out with the ML Assessment team whilst he’s been out scrambling. We’ve both been on the Glyderau and have managed to stay largely dry.
