An Alpine Curved Ridge

Image
Curved Ridge today in some of the nicest conditions I’ve ever done it in. We had good snow, blue skies and sunshine together with some incredibly beautiful rime ice as we neared the top. Thanks very much to Dan and Martyn - what a wonderful week.

Cairngorms

Another mega day with Dan and Martyn. This time we headed East to the Cairngorms, getting on some steeper snow and ice so they could swing both axes but with a shorter walk than we have on the West Coast. Lovely firm snow, some sunshine and even a couple of ice screws placed. Ace 😀

Sron na Larig

More giggles in the snow with the South Wales Massif today. Dan, Martyn and I climbed Sron na Larig which gave a fun day in some more very cold conditions. Ace 😀

North Gully

That’s winter 😀 I’ve been out with Dan and Martyn today for the first day of a winter mountaineering and climbing week. We headed up to a sociable Stob Coire Nan Lochain in Glencoe and climbed North Gully. The spindrift gave full value at the top 😂

Aonach Eagach

Another magical day in the Highlands. Karl and I enjoyed the Aonach Eagach today, definitely one of the finest ridges of its grade anywhere in the UK. We had some stunning blue skies and swirling clouds with good snow on the Northern side and sun warmed rock on the South. A very Alpine feeling day - wonderful. Thanks again Karl 😀😀

Tower Ridge and Ledge Route

Image
A mega day up Tower Ridge and down Ledge Route today with Karl who’s joined me for a couple of days private guiding. It’s hard to think of a better mountaineering day out anywhere and to get Ben Nevis in such wonderful weather - wow! Slightly unhelpful snow on Tower Ridge but a nice track on Ledge Route. A stunning day. Thank you Karl.
