ML Ropework

Image
It’s been all things ropes today with the ML training team. We stayed dry in Cwm Idwal which is lucky as I managed a yoghurt explosion in my rucksack and wouldn’t have wanted to put my waterproofs on 😀

North Ridge of Tryfan

Image
ML Training today with Helena, Cameron, Connor, Kev, Seth and Phil. We headed up and down Tryfan which gave lots of good ground to look at the hazards of steep ground as well as some route finding, navigation, leadership and environmental skills. A great bunch of folk and a lovely day in the mountains.

Wet in Cwm Idwal

Image
It shows how good this summer has been that it felt unusual to be in the rain all day today. Olivia, Mark and I were on the Idwal Slabs whilst Rusty, Mark and Joe were on Tryfan. It was definitely wet!

Dolmen Ridge

Image
Up Dolmen Ridge and down Bristly today with Olivia and Mark. It started damp but got better as the day went on. We also had Mark and Joe out with Rusty and a full compliment of 6 out with Huw on an Ml Training course. Mega.

Sunny climbing?

Image
I’ve been out with the legend that is Martin today. The brief was for roadside climbing in the sunshine and the latter part seemed unlikely as we sat in the rain in Ogwen in Martins van this morning. We escaped to the coast, delayed with coffee, endured some single pitch climbing in the rain and then the sun came out! A few more single pitch routes and then a lovely multi pitch with abseil off. Thanks Martin for a lovely day.

East Ridge of Y Garn

Image
Julia, Claire and I climbed the East Ridge of Y Garn today which felt very Alpine in the heat. We were very grateful for the breeze and some cold water therapy at Llyn y Cwn. Mucho scorchio! Thanks very much all for a great week, it really was mega!

Cwm Idwal

Image
Another beautiful summers day in the mountains. We were joined by Huw and split into a couple of teams. I roped up with Julia and Claire and we enjoyed some lovely scrambling in Cwm Idwal - there might even have been a swim this afternoon 😀

Crib Lem Spur

Image
We headed up the Crib Lem Spur today on Carnedd Dafydd, some beautiful cloud swirling around us having the added benefit of keeping the heat down a notch. We had the route and indeed the valley to ourselves - a magical day out.
