Dorsal Arete

Image
That’s the last day of our Scottish Winter courses this year but it was a fine day to finish on. Zeb, Stephen, Steve and I have been to Glencoe’s Stob Coire nan Lochan where Stephen and Zeb did a grand job of leading the team up  Dorsal Arete . The was firm enough snow to climb on for the lower part of the route and when we reached the fin we stowed our ice axes and climbed on the dry rock; all very Alpine like. Thanks all for a great week and a great Winter of courses.

Central Gully

Another stunner with Steven today. We headed East as our informants told us the snow was firmer - and it was! Wonderful, bullet hard neve in the sunshine with gear aplenty. It doesn’t get much better! Central Gully, Coire an t-Sneachda.

Ledge Route

A wonderful Alpine day on Ledge Route on Ben Nevis today with Steven. What a way to climb the Ben for the first time and what incredible views. Just ace!

Onich Slabs

A wildly windy day today saw us head to Onich Slabs for some dry tooling fun and frolics. Remarkably it stayed dry!

Snow skills

I’m out with Gary and Steven this week. We’ve kicked off with a snow skills day on Buachaille Etive Beag in some rapidly deteriorating weather! The morning sunshine was lovely but a distant memory by the time we walked down in the rain 😀

Devils Ridge

We’ve had a good dump of fresh snow overnight down to low levels and some more showers throughout the day today. Jon and I headed up the Devils Ridge and then on to the summit of Sgorr Dhonuill, Huw, Tom and Laura had the same idea which made for a nice sociable day. Once again it felt like we got all four seasons in one day, including some magical light. Mega! Thanks very much Jon, Tom and Laura!
