Walkers Haute Route | Matterhorn | Grand Finale. Today was the final day of our trek and the weather could not have been lined up any better for a more stupendous finale. We walked the Europaweg from Tasch Alp to Zermatt with incredible views of the Matterhorn, Zinalrothorn and the Weishorn. A dusting of fresh snow, cloud inversion and sparkling sunshine came together to create a magical day and a suitable ending to three lovely weeks of work.  Walkers Haute Route | Week Two | Day Four | Gruben to Täsch. It’s been a day of atmospheric clouds and rain so my photographic offerings have a theme! We had to take a low level route today, avoiding the bad weather up high, which involved a bus, cable car and two trains. The valley walk that followed was still beautiful, with some fresh snow being glimpsed on the tops and the first hints that perhaps this long and idyllic summer we’ve had is nearing a close. 

Walkers Haute Route | Week Two | Day Three | Cabane de Bella Tolla to Gruben. We’ve had a day of ever changing scenery today, climbing up to 2789m and crossing over into German speaking Switzerland as we descended - our views dominated by the Bishorn and its glaciers dropping down into the valley. It’s been much cooler and a weather front has crept in through the day - as I type there is a steady rain falling which looks set to stay. Tomorrow will call for some flexibility in the plan! 

 Walkers Haute Route | Week Two | Day Two. A nice steady pull through the forest from Zinal saw us wind our way upto the Hotel Weishorn with some stunning views of the Weishorn, Bishorn, Zinalrothorn and Matterhorn. Refreshments were enjoyed and then a gentle pull continued up to the Cabane Bella Tolla - perhaps one of the most comfortable Cabane’s in the Alps! Beautiful.
