Bristly Ridge in the snow

I’ve been out with Tom and Laura on Bristly Ridge today. In summer this is a grade one scramble but the arrival of snow and ice turns it into a great winter mountaineering objective - it’s given a grade of II 2/3 in the Welsh Winter Climbing Guidebook. We used the rope for about 6 pitches of climbing and another team were slightly ahead of us doing the same. Plenty of folk arrived at the bottom of the route and then turned around. We had cold and still conditions and some lovely glimpses of views. Having topped out we descended the Gribin Ridge (Grade I) and were treated to some of the clearest views of the Isle of Man that I’ve ever seen. A great day and thanks very much Tom and Laura for making the effort for a one day hit.
