Notch Arete

Wow, this weather is amazing! Fliss, Doug and I finished our week of Classic Scrambles with the North Ridge of Tryfan and Notch Arete. Plenty of people enjoying the warm spring sunshine and dry rock. Thank you both for a wonderful week.

Another stunner with Fliss and Doug. Up Dolmen Ridge and down Bristly today. Ace 😀

Idwal to Cneifion

Another stunning day here in the mountains. Fliss, Doug and I climbed Idwal Buttress into Idwal Staircase and then up the Cneifion ArĂȘte. We then looked at a spot of abseiling in descent. Cracking!

Bristly Ridge

Fliss, Doug and I were joined by trainee instructor Hannes today and we headed up Tryfan via Little and North Gullies. I’d plumped for the gully option to manage the strong winds but as we sat on the summit in the sunshine and light winds we realised life was a lot better than forecast. With that realisation and time in the bag we nipped up Bristly Ridge to top another great day of Classic Scrambles.

Crib Goch

I’m out with Fliss and Doug this week for some classic scrambles. It’s doesn’t get much more classic than Crib Goch which is what we enjoyed today in the warm sunshine and light winds. Mega!

Wild Camping at Sea

Keen to camp overnight at anchor for the first time on my dinghy I made the most of the high pressure this weekend. I launched at Borth Y Gest yesterday evening and enjoyed a dusky sail round to  Portmeirion where I found a lovely spot to enjoy the stars. A surprisingly good nights sleep and then a nice sail back. Ace 😀

Mountain Leaders can also lead walks in hill, moorland and lowland areas. Key info - Min. age for training: 18 - Min. age for assessment: 18 - Training: 6 days - Assessment: 5 days Ideal for: People who want to take groups into the mountains for single or multi-day hikes. https://youtu.be/cX6qH-3s6LE

Bochclwyd Horseshoe

Image
Slightly suboptimal weather and conditions today. After yesterdays mega mileage on the rope we decided to go for mileage without a rope today - targeted mileage really is the best way to get good at scrambling - and Claire and I slithered around the Bochclwyd Horseshoe. More great scrambling and ideal prep for next months Cuillin Ridge traverse!  traverse. 😀👍

Cuillin Prep

A mega day out with Claire today in preparation for Skye next month. We headed up Idwal Buttress, Idwal Staircase, Cneifion ArĂȘte, Dolmen Ridge, down Bristly Ridge and up Pinnacle Rib Variant on Tryfan. Mega!
