Sail, hike and fly - Jura

I’m messing around with combo trips at the moment, combining mountains, flying and sailing. It’s a challenge to get weather, conditions and tides to all work together and I think that’s probably what’s making it so fun. Last Sunday I drove up to Scotland and launched my dinghy at Craobh Haven Marina. I camped on the boat and then the next day sailed about 60km down the Sound of Jura in some magical weather. I slept at anchor in a beautiful sandy bay and the next morning headed up the one of the Paps (Beinn Shiantaidh) for a hike and fly. The only cloud I saw on the trip rolled across the summit but I had a lovely flight from about half height and got back to the boat in time to catch the tide. I sailed to Cairsaig Bay which was another stunning anchorage, this time with a resident accordion player and some lovely locals on a Lugger. As I arrived the @bessie_ellen sailed past me which was a magnificent sight. After a tranquil night under the stars I set back for my start point, up the Sound of Jura. The rapid tides gave me a sleigh ride and it was super special to watch the porpoise play and the occasional seal pop its nose out. The weather turned as I got back, completing a perfect 3 day trip in paradise with lots of learning and some lovely people met along the way. Such a beautiful part of the world!
