Walkers Haute Route - Week One

Yesterday saw us kick off the Walkers Haute Route from Verbier to the Cabane Louvie, a day that normally gives spectacular views but were sadly lost in the cloud. Things improved dramatically today though with much more Alpine weather.

It’s a big days walking from Cabane Louvie to the Dixence Barrage which was today’s route. We crossed two cols, each time a whisper below the 3000m mark and crossed the wild Grand Désert. This gives some rough walking underfoot but some stunning views of glacial scenery. We left the hut at 7:30 this morning, getting in this evening at 6:00pm so a great effort all round.
